It's hard to believe that the summer camping season is upon us, but kids are running to camp and some are even there now. We have an exciting summer program planned with two themes. For the younger campers we will be talking about God's Kingdom and for the older campers we will be talking about Faith. These are great themes that we pray will impact lives for eternity over the next six weeks.
Bonnie is currently serving at Camp A which is for ages 6-10. It started on 6/27 and goes through 7/3. She has been hard at work helping to polish of the curriculum as well as planning the entire camp with a team of ladies from SEND and Scripture Union. Lydia is with her as well. This is Lydia's first time to serve as a counselor helper and she is thrilled to have the chance. Please pray for this camp that God would lay a foundation in young hearts to better understand God's Kingdom and their need to be in the Kingdom.
Next week, from 7/5 through 7/11, our whole family will be at Camp B. Camp B is for children between 11 and 13 years old. I will be the archery instructor, and both Bonnie and I will be serving as counselors as well as speakers. Bonnie will speak on 7/6 about who the King of Light is, and I will speak the following night on Loving the King with all our heart. Lydia will serve as a counselor helper at this camp also and Ellie Beth will be attending. Please pray that the junior highers would have a great time and that God's kingdom would be presented to them in a compelling way so that each camper would clearly see who God is and what his kingdom is like.
The following week, from 7/13 to 7/19 Bonnie and Lydia will take a week off and I will serve at Camp C, for ages 14 to 16. In this camp we switch to the theme of faith. Like Camp B, I will serve a variety of roles as well as speak the first night. I will introduce the theme of faith, speaking on Hebrews 11:1. Please pray for this camp, that the campers would be challenged to take faith in God's promise of salvation to all who believe in his name and confess with their tongues that Jesus is Lord.
Then, we get a week off, but return to camp for one MK Camp from 7/31 to 8/6. There, I will be the director and archery instructor. Bonnie will be serving as an assistant cook, and as always, help out in many behind the scenes ways that cause camp to succeed. Lydia and Ellie Beth will be attending camp. Again, our theme is faith, and I will speak two nights, 7/31 on Hebrews 11:1 and on 8/6 in which I will wrap up the weeks messages and encourage the campers to walk by faith. Please pray for MK Camp that it is an encouragement to the Missionary Kids who come to take steps of faith in their life. We do not assume that MK's are followers of Jesus Christ. So, just as in the other camps, pray for the campers to see Jesus clearly and to take faith in him as their savior. This camp faces a unique challenge this year. Due to a variety of factors, enrollment was low and we had to combine two camps. We now have ages 12-17 together so please pray for this camp to be able to reach such a wide range of maturity levels.
Finally, Ellie will be spending a couple weeks on the Croatian coast at a friends summer house during the week of Camp C and into the week prior to MK Camp. It is exciting to see her getting this chance to see the real Croatian summer on the coast with a friend.
Thank you for your prayers and support for this ministry. After the camping season is over we will be sending out another update to let you know how things went at camp. You are all a blessing to us.
